What are the usage scenarios for Geistlich Panorama®?
Diagnosis, intraoral scans, non-surgical perio treatment, post-surgery maintenance, intra- or extraoral photo documentation.
Can I use Geistlich Panorama® for surgeries?
No. These are non-sterile devices not intended for surgeries.
Does Geistlich Panorama® contain latex?
No. Geistlich Panorama® is a latex-free lip and cheek retractor.
Does Geistlich Panorama® eliminate the use of cotton rolls?
Geistlich Panorama® retracts the lips and cheeks gently and evenly over a large area, allowing a more effective relative isolation of the treatment field. Depending on the individual treatment conditions, the usage of additional cotton rolls can be required for adequate moisture control.
In which areas is Geistlich Panorama® particularly advantageous in terms of accessibility and visibility?
Geistlich Panorama® improves the accessibility and visibility of buccal and cervical areas in particular.
Is the application of Geistlich Panorama® equally well-suited for all patients?
Geistlich Panorama® does not always fit equally well, as the size of the oral cavity does not always correlate with the size of the dental arch and opening of the mouth.
In what sizes is Geistlich Panorama® available?
Geistlich Panorama® is available in two sizes: Regular and Small. Size Regular is suitable for medium-sized and large mouths, size Small for small mouths (particularly in female patients).
How do I select the correct size?
The correct size of Geistlich Panorama® is selected based on the distance between the mouth corners when the mouth is in a relaxed position (i.e. with the lips closed or slightly open). Ideally, the diameter of the inner ring should be approx. 2 cm wider than the distance between the corners of the mouth in order to ensure adequate retraction of the soft tissues.
Therefore, the following rule applies:
Size Small: Mouth corner distance ≈ approx. 6 cm
Size Regular: Mouth corner distance ≈ approx. 7 cm
It is important not to use a rigid orientation aid when determining the distance between the corners of the mouth, but to follow the lip curvature.
If you are unsure which of two sizes to use, go for the larger one as this will ensure a better fit.
Is Geistlich Panorama® suitable for multiple use?
Geistlich Panorama® has been designed for single use only. It is not suitable for cleaning, disinfection, sterilization and/or multiple use.
How well do patients tolerate Geistlich Panorama® in prolonged treatments?
Geistlich Panorama® is comfortable to wear for patients over long periods of time, if the correct size has been chosen.
Does Geistlich Panorama® trigger the gag reflex – similar to a rubber dam?
No, as Geistlich Panorama® is completely open at the back, most patients will not experience a gag reflex when Geistlich Panorama® is placed.
